"30 YEARS OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE, DEVELOPING SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGERS AND BUILDING SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES"
With 30 years of construction project management experience spanning 120 construction projects in 6 countries I’ve had many successful projects. My construction projects include industrial, concrete, commercial buildings, houses, earthworks, roads, bridges, petrochemical and infrastructure. Indeed, there are few in the construction industry fortunate enough to be involved with the management of so many different projects for such a wide variety of clients (including private, corporate, government, mining and oil & gas). I’ve held senior positions in major construction companies, served on various construction industry bodies and advised on construction training, mentoring, construction curriculum and contractual matters.
Regrettably, I’ve also seen mistakes and some disastrous construction projects. I hate seeing construction projects done poorly. It’s such a waste of time, effort and resources, and really there’s no excuse. Unfortunately, many construction project managers are ill equipped and poorly trained in the art of project management. More than ever I’m inspired to help the construction industry, passing on my knowledge and expertise through established construction and project management training. I’ve always enjoyed mentoring and training those working with me and many have been promoted to senior management positions. There's a need for experienced and knowledgeable construction project managers in Australia.
I’m now devoting my time to becoming a construction management consultant for construction companies and anyone contemplating or involved with a construction project. I’ve written 7 construction management books which include examples from my career and incorporate 30 years of construction management experience and knowledge. These books are for construction project managers, construction company owners and project owners. My latest book is for anyone planning on building or renovating their home.
These construction management books have received favourable reviews from around the World, including:
“I'm learning as fast as I can to understand the challenges and pitfalls of project management. This book is fun to read and full of examples of what to be aware of with project management. His stories are insightful and educational. His style of writing is fun and useful. I recommend this book to anyone who want to hear real life stories about projects. It's relevant to any kind of project management, not just construction.”
“This is the best book on Project Management I have read”
“A practical guide based on great experience of a real professional. If just only part of recommendations are followed by contractors the ratio of successful projects would grow dramatically.”
In addition, I regularly write construction management consultant articles for ClockShark (a website in the US) and my articles have also been published on other websites, including: GenieBelt, Planning Planet, The Estimators Playbook, QSadvisor, The Hard Hat Professional, Accede, Construction Namibia magazine, and The Quantity Surveyor (official Journal of the Institution of Surveyors of Uganda). I regularly publish articles and information on construction management and building and renovating homes on my LinkedIn profile and on this website. I regularly receive comments on my articles from people around the World, these include:
“Just a quick note to tell you how much I enjoy your articles. I came from the tools so whilst being well versed in the technical and onsite management side of things my knowledge of the project management side of things is limited.”
“Hi Paul, really enjoy reading your posts. As a young manager I find you posts informative and relative to the type of contracts I'm working on. Thanks for sharing your experience.”
“I'm learning every day and your articles and the discussions they prompt are fantastic.”
I frequently provide construction management consultant advice and project management training to construction professionals around the World via my website and LinkedIn.
